Valencias
fiestas are some of the most riotous in Spain. The best is Las
Fallas, March 12th 19th which culminates
in a massive bonfire in which all the processional floats are burned!
In
July the city celebrates the Feria de Julio with bullfights,
concerts, the battle of the flowers, and fireworks. In September,
theres a spectacular firework competition held in the Riverbed
Park.

Moors
and Christians battle for the castle in Bocariente, with
wild firework displays at night

Week
before Lent.
|
Carnival
in Aguilas; is one of the wildest in the country after
Tenerife and Cadiz. Good carnival celebrations also in
Cabezo de Torres and Vinaros.

March
12th 19th The
middle of the month especially around the 19th (San
Jose) also sees smaller festivals in Xativa Benidorm
and Denia. Third Sunday of Lent Fiesta de la Magdalena
in Castellon de la Plana is marked by major processions
and pilgrimages.

Las
Falles de San Jose in Valencia is bar far the biggest of
the bonfire festivals as is indeed on of the most
important fiestas in all of Spain. Bullfights, music
and stupendous fireworks.

April
Holy
Week. Celebrated everywhere.
The
Easter processions in Murcia are famous and continue into
the following week with, on Tuesday, the Bando de la Huerta,
a huge parade of floats celebrating local agriculture and
on Sunday evening, the riotous Burial of the Sardine which
marks the end of these spring festivals.

In
Elche there are, naturally, big Palm Sunday celebrations
making use of the local palms. Throughout the week there
are also religious processions in Cartagena, Lorca, Orihuela,
Moncada and Valencia.
22nd-24th Famous
Moros y Cristianos in Alcoy. After a colourful procession,
battle commences between the two sides.
25th Morella
holds the traditional fiesta of Las Primes.
