May 1st-5th 

Second Sunday La Virgen de los Desamparados in Valencia. The climax of this celebration is when the statue of the Virgin is transferred from her basilica to the Cathedral.

1-5 Fiestas de los Mayos in Alhama de Murcia, and Moros y Cristainos in Caravaca de la Cruz

Third Sunday. Moors and Christians battle in Altea.

 

June 23rd-24th

………….and celebrated on a similar scale on the beaches of Valencia, Malvarossa, Cabanyal and Aloboraya, with bonfire jumping.

 

Dia de San Juan. Magnificent hogueras festival around this date on the beaches of San Juan de Alicante. Similar to the March fallas of Valencia with processions and fireworks………….

July

Early July Fiestas de la Santisima Sangre in Denia with dancing in the streets, music and mock battles. 15th-20th  Moros y Cristianos in Orihuela.

Festival of Music in Valencia throughout the month, featuring open air concerts in Viveros park.

16th In San Pedro del Pinatar a maritime Romeria in which an image of the Virgin is carried in procession around the Mar Menor. Second Week. Feria de Julio in Valenica  with much music and above all fireworks, ending with the battle of the flowers in the Alameda. 25th 31st Moros y Cristianos battle in Villajoyosa by both land and sea.

August 4th Festival in El Palmar with processions by boat into the lake. First week. Local fiesta in Segorbe. 15th Local festivities in Denia, Jumilla, and Requena. 21-23rd Local festivities in Jijona.

Last Wednesday. Local fiesta in Sagunto and at the same time the great Moors and Christians plus a mystery play in Elche.

First Weekend. Benicassim’s international music festival, a massive party bringing together the major names in alternative music. Last week La Tomatina a riotous free-for-all of tomatoe trowing takes place in Bunol ussally on the last Wed of the month(this is subject to change)

September.

4th-9th  Moros y Cristianos in Villena

10th 13th International Mediterranean Folk Festival in Murcia.

8th Mare de Deu de la Salut- colourful folkloreic processions in Algernesi 13th Rice festival in Sueca includes a national paella contest. 22nd Fiesta of Santo Tonas in Benicassim with bands and a blazing bull.

October

Second Sunday. Benidorm celebrates its patron saints day.

18th-22nd Moors and Christians in Calpe.

November 1st

 

Fiesta de Todos los Santos; All Saints’ festival in Cocentaina.

December

6th-8th La Fiesta de la Virgen in Yecla when the effigy of Mary is carried down from the sanctuary on top of the hill amid much partying.

 

 

14th The weekend after this date sees four days of Moors and Christians in Petrel.
